A Review on #GameOn

Hello visitors or daily blog readers! Welcome to a new post called #GameOn, I am posting this post because it informs people about 4 different Cyber Safety problems and also reviewing the problems in some detail! Also if you don’t quite get what I am saying about, the video link will be at the end of this post! Have fun scrolling down!

The problems

Here are the 4 problems presented in the film

1. Dean and Joel love playing Star warriors which is a game, they are very determined to get to level 12. They both play this game overnight and both get problems due to playing the game too much
2. Grace gets accused by Bianca because one of Grace’s posts was a very mean post about Bianca picking her nose, rude comments followed up about Bianca and not about Grace. The problem is, Grace didn’t do it and she can’t remember who else she gave her password to other than Bianca. They suspect someone hacked her page
3. Ryan found a free ringtones site and didn’t read the Terms, he started downloading the cool ringtones and boasting about them at school. However when a police officer came to the school to talk about Cyber Safety, the officer tells them that free things are never free, Ryan, after that talk starts to think about if it really was free.
4. Ollie is a boy that takes selfies and texts a lot, it is normal to text but what he is doing wrong is that he posts his selfies online to strangers, he doesn’t really know what can happen to him if he does such things, the first person to find out was his older sister and she has told his mother that if he can’t stop posting selfies to strangers, they will have to take his phone away

Also if you are wondering if Claudia is a character and she isn’t in the problems, then why is she even a character? Well I’ll tell you in the solutions below

Solutions

Solutions to the 4 problems

1. Dean’s Teacher calls his mother and they have talk about this, this eventually changes Dean to stop playing games as it takes away his life experiences, Dean has now started to hang out with his friends and do chores like usual but also play games for only a certain period of time every day, Joel does the same thing except the teacher didn’t tell her mother, the mother changed Joel herself by having a talk with him. This results in Problem 1 solved.
2. Grace tells her parents and they try to help her, eventually their friends find out who has done it because she told them it was her, yup that’s right, it was Claudia, she felt so guilty she ended up telling her friends, however she thought it was just going to be a joke and no one was going to get upset but they actually did. Grace and Bianca however forgive her though and this solves problem 2 as they found the culprit.
3. Ryan eventually realises that the ringtones weren’t free as their parents were getting texts that they were going to be charged $10 a week for the ringtones, Ryan however realises he didn’t read the terms and now realises to read the terms now to stop this from happening. This results in problem 3 solved as Ryan now knows that he has to read the terms in order to see if its free, also free things are never free.
4. There wasn’t really a problem to Ollie however, no problem was found but he changed his ways from doing that, what happens if he kept going? He eventually would of found that someone used his selfie to either shame him, tease him, impersonate him or just use it for normal or personal use. This can result in Ollie not wanting that and getting upset which is a problem, luckily none of that happened.

Positive Aspects of the internet

Positive aspects of the internet include:

• There are many forms of entertainment E.G. Gaming, Videos and music. Some platforms

• You can connect to people around the globe. Examples of

• Easier to communicate with other people around the world. While examples of this are social media

  

  platforms as well, other applications like Skype, Whats app, We chat, Viber and Kik do more to let people talk using video calls or regular calls for free but you use internet data that you pay for. Negative aspects of the internet

Negative aspects of the internet include:

• The internet is able to isolate people from the real world by diverting their attention to always being on the internet

  

• Nobody is in charge of the internet so you can just post anything on the internet including personal details and photos which can spread everywhere

• It is much easier to get viruses on the internet because there are so many ads and free offers attracting people and when they click, open or download things they get viruses, there are so many different opportunities and bad ways you can get viruses on the internet

  

• There is also a much more probable chance of fraud happening everywhere because of the internet, many people just post so many personal details about themselves and those details get used for fraud by using them to steal credit cards, by the time the person knows about it, most their money will have been spent.

  

• The internet in a way can also take peoples jobs, an example of this is online shopping can take away cashiers jobs by just making people deliver groceries to them instead of making people come to the shopping centre and making use of shopping mall staff, even now most people use the do it yourself machines in Coles and Woolworths instead of having people do it all for them. Another example of this is online banks, this takes the jobs of bank servicemen/women by rendering them useless if people don’t need their service and people just use online banking websites.
